1. By Plane to Lombok:

  • Airport: The nearest airport is in Lombok.
  • From Lombok to Gili Air:
    • Once you land, you'll find a variety of taxis and transport services outside the airport.
    • They can take you to one of the harbors from where boats depart for Gili Air.
    • Harbors in Lombok:
      • Teluk Nara: This is where private speedboats depart for Gili Air, offering a quick 10-minute journey.
      • Bangsal: This local harbor is where you'll find boats departing for Gili Air once they gather 40 passengers. There's no fixed timetable, so patience is key.

2. By Fast Boat from Bali:

  • Departure Points in Bali: The most popular are Padang Bay and Serangan. Note that currently, there are no departures from Amed.
  • Other Departures: Boats also leave from Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida.
  • Journey: The fast boat ride takes about 2 hours, landing you directly at the Gili Air jetty.

3. By Local Boat from Lombok (Bangsal Harbor):

  • Economical Option: This is the cheapest route to Gili Air.
  • Time: Local boats don't follow a fixed schedule and depart once they have enough passengers (around 40). It's best suited for travelers not on a tight schedule.

Tips for a Smooth Journey:

  • Plan Ahead: Check the latest boat schedules and availability, especially during peak seasons.
  • Pack Light: Gili Air's no-motor-vehicle policy means you might have to carry your luggage over sandy paths.
  • Stay Hydrated: The boat journey, especially from Bali, can be hot and sunny.
